Homely Christmas
This year, Christmas really feels different for me and dear. It's not the usual merry making, partying, late nights hanging out, massive shopping, but rather, we spent a very homely christmas this year. Today's christmas message also coincides with the feel of christmas for us this day, as Pastor Lim talks about coming home for Christmas...which means for those who have gone astray, Jesus wants us to come back to Him this day.
The sequence of the pictures will describe how we spent Christmas this year! =)
This year, our christmas eve was kinda a roller coaster ride. It started off well and we watched National Treasures 2. Really a great movie. I enjoyed it so much! Then, we started a small quarrel or argument which led to much sadness and our moods totally spoilt and changed our plans...hai. But then, God had other plans in store for us i guess! We got back happy and all during dinner but dear was very disappointed for a while cos he really wanted to give me a romantic christmas but our plans were ruined. Nobody's to blame i guess. But we have learnt and grown closer to each other more..and know that God is forever our source of comfort and guidance. :) Thanks be to God. So in the end, we didn't take much photos..but here's one nice one at parkway! Ohh..and we had a hilarious time singing carols in the car, on the way back home. Love you much much.
Today, on Christmas Day, i went for 2 services which were exactly the same haha. I went for the 8.30 service with my Dad and i was so touched listening to the choir singing the carols that i had to call and ask dear if he wanted to go for the 10.30 service. The choir was really good...so in the end, because i wanted dear to hear the carols (which we did not manged to hear this year in town), i went for 2 services. haha.
Following that, we went for dear's family lunch at his grandma's place. It was kinda scary and intimidating for me at first..cos i was so shy. I mean, dear's cousins and uncles and aunties were all there...i don't want to leave any bad impression on them haha. I was so shy that i didn't talk much..i just kept smiling and sticking to dear. It was nice seeing his family all gathered there with his nieces and nephews. So cute :) ohh and his godma asked when will it be our big day. haha i was so shy laaaa. But happy i got to know his family!
And as mentioned in my previous post, we did cook for my parents in the end! After lunch, we headed down to IKEA to get my parents' xmas gift and then our cooking adventure began!
We cooked for almost 3 hours with breaks in between la of course. The dinner was pretty successful i must say! Phew! :) Dear was so nervous and stressed...haha silly boy. He was so afraid he screwed up and leave a bad impression to my parents. I guessed i would feel the same way too when its my turn to cook for his parents. lol.
The homecooked meal.
I'm gonna introduce the dish one by one. Starting from the bottom, in a clockwise manner:
1. Mixture of vegetables with a tinch of oyster sauce - Brocolli, green beans, mushrooms, carrots
2. Black Pepper Turkey with Jam to add a sweet taste to it. (It's too expensive to cook or buy a whole turkey so we had to make do with cold storage's sliced turkey! but the jam sauce is our idea!)
3. Ham with apple sauce topping. (We boiled the fresh apples and mashed it to give a sweet fragrant taste)
4. Our original Chicken Fillet with Chicken Broth and Pear topping. (Likewise, we boiled a pear and mashed it to emit a sweet taste admist the juicy tender chicken broth juice...a lot of ingredients were used to marinate the chicken!)
It was a whole lot of work! But we really had fun didnt we, dear? :) We were quite creative in the ingredients we chose...and everything was really tasty. A pity i overcooked the chicken a little..so it's a bit tough. But nonetheless, my parents really enjoyed the meal. It's my first time doing this for my parents, so i'm really happy it was a success. Thanks dear for doing it with me!
Dinner layout.
Every plate was spanking clean!
And this is what we bought for my parents! They've been looking for such vertical frames so we went to IKEA to buy it! It's hanging on our wall now! :)
Don't you agree that our christmas is really homely now? Afternoon with dear's family, Night with my family. Christmas this year is truly a reunion with our families, as we come together for a meal shared with love and joy.
And as for pressiess....Mummy gave me a big box containing 6 cans of biscuits from Craberee and Evelyn..very very nice! Will take pictures and post. Dear's auntie gave me a box of homemade muffins :) Dear's parents gave me a purse and a towel set...Dear also gave me a magnetic cupid heart thing..and my Canadian auntie gave me 2008 WOW Christian CD.
...but my best christmas present is dear's heart :) mushy i know...hee hee. love u dear.
You're the BEST gift from God!!!
We truly had a different feel of Christmas this year, and we loved it. Christmas is all about love, peace, hope and forgiveness which is a representation of Christ our Saviour.

A while back, while waiting for me to dress up, dear drew this within 10 minutes and left it on my table.
