What i miss most in sec and jc life is...
the teachers who taught me.
I've always felt very blessed to have gotten very nice teachers to teach me and mould me in my secondary and junior college days.
Just 2 days ago, I went back to TJ to help my dear friend, patricia, collect her A level cert which was supposed to be collected 4 years ago. After half a day of searching, thank God her cert was found. She needed it urgently for some NUS matters, and since her soul was over at Indonesia and i was free, i agreed to help her. Because of that, it gave me the chance to meet my JC teachers! I didn't go there with the intention of meeting them, but I did wonder if i would be lucky enough to meet them. True enough, when i reached there, i saw Ms Kwan and Mr Simon Foo right outside the general office. I was a little taken aback because i kinda just woke up, and was dressed very very shabbily. haha. Dear was with me too, because he was so nice to come down to give me a lift and helped me with my bidding.
For those who do not know, Ms Kwan was my GP teacher, and Mr Simon Foo taught me chemistry. Mr Foo was kinda busy went i saw him, so we hardly talked but still, we acknowledged each other. I guess, my JC class, 02/04 has been very blessed with very caring teachers. We really appreciated each and every single teacher that taught us. Well, maybe not all of them..but I do!
I had a wonderful and unhurried time talking to Ms Kwan, catching up with each other. She was happy to know matthias too, and they both chatted quite a bit. It was a lovely conversation, and dear kept saying over and over again that i was really lucky to have such a nice teacher like her. Really, she was so supportive and showed so much joy when she saw us. We talked about those jc days, the people in my class (some gossips hahaha), my nus days, what we plan to do in the future, to even the church she's attending. And during the conversation, she would ask all the other teachers walking by to come and say hi to her ex-student. Hmm, the teachers that came to acknolwedge me were Mr Francis Tong, Mrs Lim (our vice principle who teaches maths) and my Chinese Calligraphy Teacher. I was really really taken aback when all 3 of them remembered that i was an ex-student of TJC, and more surprised that my chinese calligraphy teacher remembered my name! (I can't even remember his name!) You gotta know that i actually quit chinese calligraphy halfway without telling him!
I felt kinda shy during the conversation because Ms Kwan kept singing praises about me to dear. She said things like "You know, when you have students like her, teachers like us wouldn't have any job to do", "Oh! she scored a million A's", "You are so lucky, matt"...etc etc. Gosh, i felt my head growing bigger and bigger but no worries, i managed to smack myself back and remained humble :) Praises aside, she's really one teacher that i really admire. When i got back home and told my dad about her, he told me he remembered her as my GP teacher and that she was a very nice person. I can't agree more!
You know, i honestly don't really miss my class and obviously not the mugging days. But, i really do miss my teachers. They are the ones that i reminiscise everytime i looked back and felt nostalgic. Thank God for them :)
An old picture, during JC times.
Ms Kwan is the one in orange :)
