granny, your return truly felt like a dream :)
It was an exciting saturday. I mean it.
When my dear lan anh facebook-ed me a week back, telling me she'll probably be in singapore for 4-5 days on the 26/27th, i was really happy but yet, i had this slight feeling that she might not come after all cos she didn't get back to me since then! hahaha. So i didn't put my hopes too high, even though i was really hoping she would come. And the days of the week went by, with no news of her...until... that very saturday afternoon on the 27th, she msged me at 3pm, from some random phone number, telling me she'll be in singapore at 6pm that evening. I was stunned...wondering if i was seeing things correctly. So i called Tuan, and he said she'll be arriving here too...! And the sad part was, she'll only be here till sunday 9am, cos she's got an interconnecting flight to London for a 1 year exchange.
I tell you, it was so last minute..so sudden..and my mind went blank for a while. When i received her msg, i was trying to study for my cn3121 test haha. And so, dear and i planned to pick her up at the airport, and the coolest thing was she had no idea that we'll be coming, and she doesn't have a line, so she can't contact me, nor can i contact her. If i miss her at the airport, that's it. It was so sudden, i called yiling almost immediately to inform her cos she told me to do so, and we agreed to meet at the airport an hour later or so, to surprise her.
THANKFULLY. We managed to recognise her (from her style of walking) and instead of coming out from the arrival gate, she went into the toilet..and took years to come out. We thought she might have left already, and was contemplating to go to the taxi stand to look for her. Well, we breathed a sigh of relief when she finally came out...in shorts ahaha. I was estactic, and we ran to give her a big tight hug! She was stunned and speechless at first haha (granny, i thought u didn't recognise me you know... cos u gave me this look as though a stranger came to hug you!). We hugged and hugged, and she was sooo happy :) and i was even happier. I miss her soo soo soo much! It has been 2 and a half years...!!!
And so, she got to meet matt too! She's been wanting to meet him :) and matt is happy to meet her too! Afterwhich, we brought her to TJ to bring back some of the past memories she had there, but a pity the gate was closed and we couldn't get in. We then brought her to eunos for some chicken rice, which she missed most of Singapore's food and had a nice long walk at east coast park, before she headed to ntu to meet her vietnamese batch mates. And we (me, dear and my parents) sent her off to London the next morning at 9am..
To cut the long story short, it was a really great reunion for me and her since yiling managed to meet her up at new york a month back! I was really shocked with her accent cos it's completely americanized and it's just soo different. I really missed her old accent, and to date, i can still remmeber how she sounds back then.. I'm still trying to get used to it though ahha. Granny, i wish you get back your old accent! =) other than that, everything about her still feels the same...we've all grown up and matured :)
Granny, i don't know how to put it in words but seeing you once again was like a miracle. You know, God has been so good...He granted all my prayers, from meeting you in the airport, and to spending some time with you at night and even gave us the opportunity to meet up next year cos u're going on exchange, and i'm going on exchange too! I really really cross my fingers and pray that we'll be able to go for europe backpacking next year, during easter. We'll have soo much funn!! :) :)
You know, that night, i searced for my JC autograph book..and read the letter you gave me on valentine's day in year 2. It brought back so many pleasant memories...and reminded me of how good God has been to have bless me with your friendship. Even though i don't really fancy this ldf (long distance friendship) thing...i mean, i really wish u are in singapore, but i know God has His plans for you. I'm really glad that u're enjoying yourself in US, making so many friends and having lots of fun. I know u've been a blessing to all those around you :)
Do take care of yourself in london, and write to me every now and then okay? please? and give me your skype number! I am still trying to convince myself that u really did come back haha. Continue to abide in Him okay, and remember me! I miss you, and i love you granny :) and do keep your promise that you'll be back to attend my wedding! hahaha. And lets make it come true that we'll be able to travel tgt next year okay.... =)
It's been 2 and a half years...things may have changed, but our friendship continues to grow.
p.s.// help me say hi to darren! :)
