Just some pennies of thoughts...

Cell group was really interesting today, and I'm really glad to be able to take back certain things which i've learnt from the discussion we had. At some point of our discussion, we were talking about the dreams / ambitions that we have and how these will shape us. So, some of us shared and I must say I was really quite surprised that 2 of my female cell group mates shared that they really want to be housewives and set up a Godly family. I was like..."WOW" cos it's just so biblical and it's absolutely rare to find girls like that nowadays. I don't deny that I do have some desire to be a housewife and i want my family to be Godly and holy too. But, I guess for me, it's more towards wanting to have a family and my children more than being a housewife. Well, I really do like babies but children per se (when they lose their naive-ness and innocence) is another thing. And so, I was really admiring my 2 fellow cell-grp mates cos most women nowadays are very empowering and ambitious. Ever since the feminist movement, we've been desperately trying to prove ourselves to be equal or if not, better than men. But you know, my cell group mates can put aside career, and be the support for the family that they should be, as women.

I haven't fully analyzed the role of women in the bible, but I know Proverbs 31 do provide a good description of what a godly women should be like. Plus, Eve was created as a companion and support for Adam. From the Word of God:

The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman, ' for she was taken out of man."
Genesis 2:18-23

To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."
Genesis 3:16

It's funny how the feminist movement has caused women the desire to overpower men, because it's totally not biblical. But i guess many will disagree with me, and many would laugh at me for being silly. But all these doesn't mean women are in a lower position than men, and that men mustn't take advantage and claims that everything he says is right and that their wife must submit to him in everything he says like a slave.

Wives and Husbands
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Ephesians 5:22-33

Of course, the above bible passage is applied for husband and wives. It is rather interesting actually, to discover what a pleasing marriage / relationship means to God. I guess for me, pride seems to be a stumbling block for my role as a gf. I tend to think I'm right all the time haha. But before i look at the speck at somebody's eyes, I should always remember to remove the speck in my eye first.

The key is to submit the relationship to God, and abide His word.
